Prof K Tharanikkarasu Vice-Chancellor In-Charge Of Pondicherry University

After Prof Gurmeet Singh’s tenure ended on Thursday, Prof K Tharanikkarasu, Director of the varsity, took over the charge as vice chancellor in-charge of Pondicherry University from yesterday. In an official function Prof Gurmeet Singh handed over the charge to the senior most academic.

A renowned academic administrator and an internationally reputed expert in the field of corrosion science and smart materials, Prof Gurmeet Singh, took over as the vice-chancellor of Pondicherry University on the November 29, 2017, and later, his tenure was extended till on November 23, 2023.

Professor Gurmeet Singh, the outgoing Vice-Chancellor acknowledged and thanked the statutory officers, faculty members, staff, students and all the stake-holders for extending full support during his tenure as vice-chancellor.

The central varsity in a statement said the Executive Council in its meeting held on November 22, 2023 has nominated two nominees for constituting the search panel for appointment of the new vice-chancellor of Pondicherry University as required under the varsity act and statutes.

The statement has also said the advertisement calling for applications for the vacant post of vice-chancellor will be released very soon.
