UGC Invites Applications From HEIs To Offer Open And Distance Learning Courses

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has invited applications from Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to offer courses in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) for the academic year 2024-25. The application process began from October 15, 2024, to October 31, 2024. The courses are set to commence in February 2025 onwards.

HEIs can submit their applications via the online portal – deb.ugc.ac.in. Also, a duly certified hard copy of the application should be sent to the Joint Secretary, Distance Education Bureau, UGC at 35, Feroze Shah Road, New Delhi – 110001, by November 15, 2024.

As per the official UGC notification, “fresh online applications are being invited by Regulation 3(A) and Regulation 3(B)(b) of the UGC (Open and Distance Learning Programmes and Online Programmes) Regulations, 2020, and its subsequent amendments”.

However, all applications will undergo a thorough review based on the standards outlined in the UGC guidelines.

HEIs are encouraged to go through the UGC official website for details regarding the application process, fee payment, and other updates.

Deemed universities must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the AICTE for any programs within its jurisdiction before submitting their application to UGC DEB.

Also eligible HEIs, that have already recognised by the UGC to offer ODL or online programs for academic year 2024-25 may apply for the recognition of additional programs.
