Bihar Assembly Polls 2025: Owaisi's AIMIM Releases First List Of 25 Candidates

Patna, Bihar: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) on Sunday, October 19, announced a list of 25 candidates for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. The Asaduddin Owaisi-led party had declared that it would contest 100 seats in the Bihar elections after being pushed away by the INDIA bloc.

The list includes two non-Muslim candidates. Sharing a news article published by The Hindu, the party chief, Owaisi, pointed out that there has been no proportional representation for Muslims among Bihar poll candidates. “When it comes to talking about social, political, and economic justice for Muslims, all these slogan-givers run away. The community, which makes up 17% of the population, is being told that their place is to give votes, not to take them,” Owaisi observed.

In Bihar, which accounts for 17.7%of the Muslim population, no parties have so far announced more than four Muslim candidates for the State’s 243 Assembly constituencies. Notably, the Muslim population is over 20% in 87 constituencies, making their votes a decisive factor in any candidate’s electoral fortunes, the news portal reported.
