From Satna Lok Sabha constituency, BJP is fielding Ganesh Singh, the four-time MP. All eyes are on the Satna constituency as a Singh and Sidharth Sukhlal Kushwaha of Congress lock horns. In the 2023 assembly election, Sidharth has defeated Ganesh with a margin of 70,000 votes and onlookers are curious what would happen in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

Ganesh had been elected during the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th Lok Sabha election from the same constituency. He won Satna Lok Sabha election for the first time in 2004, and from there on it was his forte.  It is to note that in 2004, Ganesh with a vote margin of 90,000. But in 2009, he just scraped out of it with a margin of 4000 against, Sidharth’s father Sukhlal Kushwaha, who was a BSP contestant.

Though the during the last two election he was able to raise the vote share by 53 percentage, the fact that he lost to Sidharth in the 2023 assembly election over the margin of 70,000 votes shows that Satna is not one of BJP’s invincible forte anymore.

It is said that despite the strong BJP-RSS roots among the voters, Ganesh will seat it out in securing the seat for a fifth term. According to political commentator Jairam Shukla, the caste configuration in the constituency may go against Ganesh. He said, unless people vote for Narendra Modi’s cause irrespective of their factor, Ganesh will find it hard as the upper caste including Thakurs, Brahmins, and Vaishya, who constitute the half of the voter population, have turned against Ganesh, who is now largely seen as the a Kurmi leader.
