In the Deoria Lok Sabha constituency, BJP’s Shashank Mani won the seat with a margin of 34,842 votes. He gained a total of 5,04,541 votes, whereas Congress candidate Akhilesh Pratap Singh came second with a total of 4,69,699 votes.
The newly-elected MP Shashank Mani is businessman and does not possess political career in the past. Meanwhile, the Congress runner-up Akhilesh Pratap Singh has a profound political background; he was a member of the 16th Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh. He represented the Rudrapur constituency of Uttar Pradesh until 2017 and is also a spokesperson for the party.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, BJP candidate Ramapati Ram Tripathi won from this seat. He secured a total of 5,80,644 votes and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)candidate Binod Kumar Jaiswal stood second with a total of 3,30,713 votes. He lost by 2,49,931 votes.
