In light of the evolving political situation in Bihar, where Chief Minister Nitish Kumar“s rumoured alliance with the BJP has raised speculation that he may go back to NDA-fold by Sunday, Congress General Secretary in charge of communications, Jairam Ramesh, shed light on the situation.
Ramesh revealed that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had made multiple attempts to communicate with Nitish Kumar regarding the matter. However, despite efforts from the Congress side, Nitish Kumar”s busy schedule has reportedly hindered any direct dialogue.
“..I can formally say that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge tried to talk to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar not just once, but several times. However, the Bihar CM is busy…,” he said.
Addressing concerns about the stability of the alliance in Bihar, Ramesh affirmed that while there may be challenges at the state level, the alliance remains intact. He emphasized that the Bihar Chief Minister, along with his West Bengal counterpart, played pivotal roles in forming the alliance, understanding its national significance.
Ramesh stressed that the alliance prioritizes national issues over local concerns, affirming its commitment to the larger goal of defeating the BJP. He underscored the importance of unity within the alliance to achieve this objective.
On the subject of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee”s involvement in the alliance, Ramesh noted her shared commitment to opposing the BJP. He expressed hope for her participation in the upcoming Bharat Jodo Nyay yatra, emphasizing the alliance”s eagerness to collaborate with her.
“…She (CM Mamata Banerjee) has always ended by saying that her priority is to defeat the BJP which is also the priority for the Congress and the INDIA group…Right now we are trying to resume the Bharat Jodo Nyay yatra tomorrow. We would be delighted, we would be privileged to have her presence in the Bharat Jodo Nyay yatra if it is possible…,” he said.
