Congress' Roy K. Paulose Clinches Decisive Victory In Idukki Constituency
In a high-stakes electoral battle that kept the high ranges on edge, the Indian National Congress (INC) has reclaimed its stronghold in Idukki. Candidate Roy K. Paulose emerged victorious after a grueling 17 rounds of counting, securing a significant win that has sent waves of celebration through the United Democratic Front (UDF) camp.
The final results confirmed that Paulose managed to maintain a steady lead throughout the process, ultimately crossing the finish line with a commanding margin of 23,822 votes.
The defeat comes as a major blow to the incumbent, Roshy Augustine of the Kerala Congress (M), who represented the Left Democratic Front (LDF). Despite a spirited campaign and his deep-rooted presence in the constituency, Augustine was unable to withstand the strong undercurrent of support for the Congress challenger.
As the final round concluded, the official status was updated to “Result Declared,” marking the end of a competitive race that saw the INC candidate poll significantly ahead of his rival across various polling stations.
This victory in constituency number 91 is being viewed as a pivotal moment for the Congress in the region, reflecting a shift in voter sentiment within the district.
Supporters gathered in large numbers to celebrate Paulose’s triumph, as the win not only secures a seat for the INC but also serves as a testament to their revitalized grassroots strategy in the hilly terrains of Idukki. With the mandate now clear, the focus shifts to the development promises made during the heat of the campaign trail.
