Green Wave Overwhelms Kondotty: T.P. Ashrafali Secures Historic Mandate for IUML
Malappuram: Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) candidate TP Ashrafali has secured a record-breaking victory in the Kondotty constituency. In a display of absolute dominance that lasted through all 19 rounds of counting, Ashrafali defeated his primary opponent, Dr. P. Jiji of the CPI(M), by a staggering margin of 56,017 votes. The landslide victory not only retains the seat for the United Democratic Front (UDF) but also sets a new benchmark for electoral margins in the region.
The contest in Kondotty, a traditional stronghold for the IUML, was closely watched as the LDF fielded a doctorate-holding candidate in an attempt to challenge the League’s supremacy. However, the results revealed a massive consolidation of votes in favor of Ashrafali, with the lead widening significantly from the very first round of counting.
Final figures from the Election Commission confirm that the UDF candidate effectively tapped into a powerful wave of support, leaving the Left candidate far behind in what turned out to be a completely one-sided affair.
Political analysts note that the scale of this victory is unprecedented even for Malappuram’s standards, reflecting a profound voter endorsement of the IUML’s local leadership and the UDF’s broader campaign narrative. As news of the final tally reached the public, thousands of jubilant party workers took to the streets of Kondotty town, turning the area into a sea of green flags.
