The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its first candidate list on Saturday. In the first list, the saffron party has fielded Dinesh Kodarbhai Makwana as its candidate from Ahmedabad West constituency.

Ahmedabad West is one among the 26 constituencies of Gujarat. In a strategic move, the saffron party has unveiled its candidate list showcasing a commitment to diversity and social inclusion. To woo the votes of SC, the party has fielded 27 Scheduled Castes candidates in several constituencies. This move caters to the interest of the SC community, a crucial demographic in several Indian States. Dinesh Makwana is one of the SC Candidates announced by the party.

Dinesh hails from the city of Naroda. The 54-year-old belongs to the Vankar community. As for his educational qualifications, he has completed BA and LLB. Dinesh is an advocate by profession.

Makwana has been an active member of the saffron party for the past 37 years. Thus, he held several positions. At present, he serves as the city spokesperson of the BJP for the Karnavati city unit.

Earlier, he served as the Deputy Mayor and Chairman of the Legal Committee in the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC).

In the 2019 general election, BJP candidate Krit Premjibhai Solanki won the Ahmedabad West seat by securing 6,41,622 votes. While his opposition, Congress candidate Raju Parmar was only able to secure 3,20,076 votes. Krit Solanki is one among the five sitting MPs of the party who were dropped from the candidate list.
