Former minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Jasvantsinh Sumanbhai Bhabhor is fielded as the BJP candidate in Dahod constituency. The BJP has announced the first list consisting of 195 candidates.
Hailing from the city of Bariya Faliyu at Dasa, Jasvantsinh is a farmer and a social worker. Born in 1996, the BJP leader comes from a tribal family from the village of Dasa. Besides being an agriculturist by profession, he has also been a farmer and a social worker. He has established several educational institutions in his native village.
As for his education, the BJP leader has completed bachelor’s degree in Arts and Education. Jasvantsinh has been politically active from a very young age. His father too was an active member of the Jan Sangh in the erstwhile Panchmahal district. Being an active member of the party, the BJP leader has held many positions. He has served as the Chairman of the Gujarat State Tribal Developmental Corporation during 1998-99.
He has also been three times Chairman of the committee of the Gujarat legislative assembly on scheduled Tribes. Due to his commitment to the party and constituency, Jasvantsinh was elected four times to the Gujarat legislative assembly.
Last year, in an event, along with Dahod BJP MP Jasvantsinh Bhabhor attended, one of the 11 convicts in the 2002 Bilkis Bano gangrape case convict was seen sharing the stage. The videos and photos of the event were viral. Jasvantsinh himself has shared the photos on his Facebook posing along with the rapist. Many opposition leaders severely criticized Jasvantsinh and the BJP for letting a criminal share the stage at a government program.
