Haryana: BJP's Ranjith Singh Chautala Enters A Three-Way Battle In Hisar By Contesting Against His Daughters-In-Law

In Haryana”s Hisar constituency, the 2024 Lok Sabha election appears to be a TV soap opera. Three Chautalas are contesting for the seat. Naina and Sunaiana Chautala, and their father-in-law Ranjit Singh Chautala. While Naina Chautala is contesting on JJP (Jannayak Janta Party) ticket, Sunaina is contesting on INLD (Indian National Lok Dal) ticket. The son of former deputy Prime Minister Devi Lala, and the BJP candidate, Ranjith Singh Chautala might find it difficult to win the battle with his daughter-in-laws in the fray.

Ranjith Singh Chautala is a politician and businessman. He has been member of Indian National Lok Dal, Janata Dal, Indian National Congress, and the Bharatiya Janata Party. Ranjith was elected as the Member of Legislative Assembly from Rori constituency in 1987 on Lok Dal ticket. He served as the MP from Haryana in the Rajya Sabha from 1990 to 1992. He contested as an independent candidate during the 2019 Haryana assembly election from Raina constituency.

After the election, he went on to support the Bharatiya Janata Party to win the majority. During the second Manohar Lal Khattar ministry, Ranjith was given responsibility as Minister of Power, Minister of New and Renewable Energy, and Minister of Jail.

While he is contesting on the BJP ticket for the 2024 general election, his daughters-in-law believe that it is high time for him to retire from the political fray. However, the 79-year-old politician said that they should be proud that he is still active in politics even at this age. He said, “there is no age limit in politics and I feel I have enough of zeal and enthusiasm for catering to political service remaining in me”, as quoted by The Tribune.
