Kothapalli Geetha is the BJP candidate for the Araku Lok Sabha constituency to run for the parliamentary elections, for which the elections will be held in phase 4. YSRCP has fielded Chetti Tanuja Rani and CPI (M), an alliance partner of Congress-led INDIA block, gave ticket to Pachipenta Appala Narsa. BAP has fielded Mottadam Raja Babu from the Araku Lok Sabha Constituency
Kothapalli Geetha
Kothapalli Geetha was a former YSRCP MP in 2014 on an ST seat. In 2018, she started the Jana Jagruti party to challenge the state”s caste politics but later in 2019, Geetha joined the BJP.
A former deputy collector, she left the administrative service in 2010 to join politics.
In 2016, questions were raised over her election from the ST community and a petition was filed. Later the investigation committee was formed for the probe and the district magistrate declared that she did not belong to the ST community. The Andhra Pradesh High Court halted the government order to invalidate her caste certificate, which identified her as a member of a Scheduled Tribe, in January 2024.
Andhra Pradesh Adivasi Joint Action Committee warned against giving her the ticket to run the parliamentary election due the controversy over her community status.
Her name has also been involved in the Punjab National Bank fraud case.

Araku Lok Sabha Constituency is one of the 25 Lok Sabha seats of Andhra Pradesh. It is comprised of Palakonda, Kurupam, Parvthipuram, Salur, Araku Valley, Paderu, and Ramachodavaram. The Lok Sabha constituency was formed in 2009.
Araku is an ST-category parliament seat. It comprises part of the east Godavari district, part of the Srikakulamam district, part of the Visakhapatnam district, and part of the Vizianagaram district.
The literacy rate of the constituency is 56.76%. The SC, ST, and Muslim populations in the Araku Lok Sabha Constituency are 10.72%, 5.58%, and 1.15% respectively.
