J-K Assembly Polls: Congress Releases Third List, Ex-NSUI Chief From Bishnah

The Congress late on Monday has released the third list of candidates for the forthcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. The new list comprises 19 candidates and the prominent faces include Chaudhary Lal Singh from Basohli, and Raman Bhalla from R S Pura.

The party has also fielded former National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) chief Neeraj Kundan. He has been fielded from Bishnah, a reserved constituency.

In the assembly polls, the Congress and the National Conference (NC) reached on a seat-sharing deal in which the NC will contest from 51 seats and the Congress in 32 constituencies. The allies have also agreed to have ‘friendly but disciplined contest’ on five seats. Meanwhile, CPI (M), and Panthers Party will contest on one seat each.

On September 2, Monday, the Congress released its second list of candidates.

The elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases – September 18, September 25 and October 1. The results will be declared on October 8. This is the first Assembly election going to be held in Jammu and Kashmir after abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of the erstwhile state into two Union Territories.
