The Janata Dal United (JDU) revealed the names of 16 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, which is only weeks away. The party released a surprising candidates list, by giving ticket to unexpected candidates.
Replacing the sitting MP, JDU fielded Devesh Chandra Thakur, the chairman of legislative, from Sitamarhi constituency. Another surprise candidate to have ticket was Lavli Anand from Sheohar constituency. She quit RJD to join JD(U) earlier this month.

Yesterday, JDU”s MLA from Rupauli, Bima Bharti quit the party”s premium membership and joined Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). She said she is ready to contest from Purnea Lok Sabha constituency, if the party permits.
Bihar is getting ready its 40th Lok Sabha election. The election will be in seven phases. The first phase will see voting for four seats. From phase 2 to 5, voting will be for five seats each. The 6th and 7th phase will witness election for eight seats each.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, NDA (National Democractic Allaince) alliance in Bihar comprised of BJP, JD(U), and LJP. The allaince won 39 out of the 40 seats. In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, the Bharatiya Janata Party secured 22 seats. BJP was followed by LJP with 6 seats and RJD with 4 seats. Congress counld only achieve 2 seats in that election.
