Madhya Pradesh Election Results Live Updates: Counting Began For All 230 Constituencies, Will BJP Sustain?

Madhya Pradesh, the central Indian state, witnessed an outright battle between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Indian National Congress (INC) this time and both the parties are eagerly waiting for the final results, a semi-final to the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The state went polling booths on November 17 and the election was conducted in a single phase for all the 230 assembly constituencies. The BJP expects an easy win looking back to the state’s previous history.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer office of Madhya Pradesh, the state fielded 2533 candidates in total across various political parties and includes independent candidates. The ruling BJP had 230 candidates in total, covering all the constituencies, among which 203 are male and 27 females. Among the 230 candidates of Congress, 200 are male and 30 are females. The Aam Aadmi Party was also there in the forefront of battle with a total of 66 competitors – 54 male, 11 female and one transgender. 106 political parties have filed nominations, and among the candidates, 1166 are independent competitors.

10.00 pm, December 3, 2023: As said by the Election Commission of India BJP won 156 seats and was leading in 7 seats. Meanwhile BJP bagged 62 seats and was leading in four.

But Congress needs to introspect on why they lost in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan… I think the biggest reason for this loss is abusing Sanatan Dharma and talking about the OBC census, especially in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, where it was not a factor. 1.20 pm, December 3, 2023: Incumbent BJP maintains 100 seats margin in Madhya Pradesh. The saffron party as per the ECI trends leads in 162 seats while Congress leads in 65 seats.

12.33 pm, December 3, 2023: “We were doing our work quietly…”, said Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, on Sunday. He criticised the Congress party and said that the opposition was “preparing Ladoos and congratulatory posters” and they have put them up. According to the Union Minister, the BJP did their work in Madhya Pradesh silently. He also mentioned about the Ladli Behna scheme as the “game-changer” and attributed the full credit behind it to CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

9.45 am, December 3, 2023: Union Minister and BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia addressed media and expressed his confidence on the “double engine government” powered by the BJP of Madhya Pradesh in recent times. “We knew that as far as Madhya Pradesh is concerned, given the public welfare schemes of our double engine government”, said Mr Scindia and added that people”s blessings are with the BJP.  He welcomed all the abuses mage by Congress leader Digvijaya Singh and wished Mr Singh “all the best from the bottom of heart”.
