Aravind Kejriwal To Evade ED Summon, Will Go For Election Campaign In Madhya Pradesh

Delhi Chief Minister Aravind Kejriwal likely to skip Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons today. The probe into the alleged misconduct in the Delhi Excise policy of 2021-2022 has made the Delhi CM garner the ED notice. He was supposed to appear at the ED head quarters today at 11 am. Hours before the allocated time to be at the head quarters, Mr. Kejriwal stated the summons is politically motivated at the behest of BJP to stop him from going for election campaign in the election-bound states.

“The summon notice is illegal and politically motivated. The notice was sent at the behest of the BJP. Notice was to ensure that I am unable to go for election campaign in four states, ED should withdraw the notice immediately”, said Mr. Kejriwal, as per a report. Report says the Delhi CM will hold an election campaign road show along with Bhagwant Singh, the Punjab Chief Minister.

The alleged liquor case scam was denied by the Aam Admi Party (AAP). The party said they got to know the Delhi CM would be detained after the ED summon. Senior AAP leader and Delhi minister, Saurabh Bharadwaj said the if that would be case, the party would run the government from the jail. The party also said that they have “plan B” adhering to the arrest of Mr. Kejriwal, says Hindustan  Times.

Kejriwal was initially summoned in April by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding the case. Enforcement Directorate (ED) for the first time will summon the chief minister to their headquarters. The Aam Aadmi Party has claimed that he may be arrested.

Kejriwal was questioned for nine hours by CBI in April. The development of the case came in hours after Supreme Court rejected the bail petition of his former deputy, Manish Sisodia, the prime accused in the case.
