Shortly after Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana assembly elections, the Election Commission of India today announced the poll date for Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
Elections for the 288 Maharashtra assembly will be held on November 20 in a single phase. A total of 9.63 crore electors of Maharashtra will head to polls in the upcoming poll, according to the Election Commission. Over one lakh polling stations will be facilitated for the day.

Election for the 88 assembly constituencies in Jharkhand will be held on November 13 and 20 in two phases, and over 2.6 crore voters will exercise their franchises on the day. The result for both the Maharashtra and Jharkhand will be declared on November 23 simultaneously.
“EC stands steadfast in its resolve to ensure that elections happen in a festive atmosphere with all basic facilities in place for Voters. We urge all voters to step out and take part in the democratic festivities,” a post on the official X handle said. The poll body has promised inclusive atmosphere during the election. Notably, it has also announced the dates for the by-elections of several assembly and parliamentary constituencies.
