Manjalamkuzhi Ali Sweeps Mankada with Massive Margin
Malappuram: In a definitive statement of political supremacy, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) heavyweight Manjalamkuzhi Ali has secured a historic landslide victory in the Mankada constituency. Reaffirming his status as a titan of the district’s politics, the United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate defeated his closest rival, independent candidate Kunnath Mohamed (son of Ali Haji), by a staggering margin of 45,609 votes. The result, declared after 22 exhaustive rounds of counting, marks one of the most dominant performances in the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections.
The contest in Mankada was closely watched to see if the independent challenge could dent the League’s formidable base. However, as the boxes opened, it became clear that Ali’s influence remained unshaken. From the first round of counting, he established a lead that grew exponentially, leaving his opponents trailing far behind. By mid-afternoon, as the lead crossed the 30,000-vote threshold, the result was a foregone conclusion, with the final tally cementing Ali’s position as a senior legislative voice for the UDF.
The scale of the victory triggered widespread celebrations across Mankada, with UDF workers turning the constituency into a sea of green flags.
In the entire state, Congress-led UDF has wrested power from Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF.
