NDA 3.0: Dynast Ministers In PM Modi's New Cabinet

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has often criticised dynastic politics stressing that “parivarvaad” needs to be fought to ensure the country’s progress, has several dynasts in his newly put together cabinet.

PM Modi has maintained that parties that follow dynastic politics have a mantra of “party of family, by family, and for family.” He specifically targeted the opposition parties, including the Congress and the RJD, for their dynastic politics. He has accused them of being communal, casteist, and dynastic to a severe degree.

Here is a list of dynast ministers in NDA 3.0:

  1. Jyotiraditya Scindia: Son of the late Madhavrao Scindia, who was a prominent Congress leader.
  2. Chirag Paswan: Son of Ram Vilas Paswan, the late founder of the Lok Janshakti Party.
  3. HD Kumaraswamy: Son of HD Deve Gowda, former Prime Minister and founder of the Janata Dal (Secular) party.
  4. Piyush Goyal: Son of BJP loyalists Ved Prakash Goyal and Chandrakanta Goyal. His father was the Minister of Shipping in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government and a BJP national treasurer, and his mother was a three-term MLA from Matunga in Mumbai.
  5. Dharmendra Pradhan: Son of BJP leader Debendra Pradhan, who was a Minister of State in the Vajpayee government from 1999 to 2004.
  6. Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu:  Son of late Kinjarapu Yerran Naidu, who was a prominent leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and served as the youngest Cabinet Minister in 1996.
  7. Jitin Prasada: Son of Jitendra Prasada, a veteran politician from the Indian National Congress.
  8. Anupriya Patel: Daughter of Sone Lal Patel, founder if the Apna Dal (Sonelal).
  9. Kirti Vardhan Singh: Son of Raja Anand Singh, who was elected as Congress MP from Gonda in 1971, 1980, 1984 and 1989.
  10. Ram Nath Thakur: Son of Karpoori Thakur, a renowned socialist leader and former Bihar Chief Minister.
  11. Kiren Rijiju: Son of Rinchin Kharu, who was the first pro-tem speaker of Arunachal Pradesh who gave oath to the Members of the First State Legislative Assembly.
  12. Raja Rao Inderjit Singh: Son of Maharaja Rao Birendra Singh, a former Indian politician from the Indian National Congress.
