Congress candidate Rajendra Pakeek defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Ratanlal Jaldhari in Sikar, Rajasthan. Sikar witnessed a tough three-cornered fight between Rajendra Pakeek (INC), BJP’s Ratanlal Jaldhari and Tarachand Dhayal (independent). Rajendra Pakeek polled 97,161 votes while, Ratanlal Jaldhari came second with 67,123 votes.
The Rajasthan state recorded a voter turnout of 75.45%, in the Assembly Elections held across 199 of 200 Assembly Constituencies on November 25. The election for the remaining 1 seat has been adjourned.
In 2008 assembly elections, Congress candidate Rajendra Pakeek had defeated BJP’s Mahesh Sharma. Rajendra Pakeek was voted 46,976 votes and Mahesh Sharma was voted 39,210 votes. Mahesh Sharma lost by 7,766 votes. The Constituency had total 1,88,434 electors and 14 candidates.
In 2013 assembly elections, BJP candidate Ratan Lal Jaldhari had defeated Rajendra Pakeek (INC). Ratan Lal Jaldhari was voted 59,587 votes and Rajendra Pakeek was voted 46,572 votes. NCP candidate Wahid Chowhan came third with 39,768 votes then. The constituency had 1,60,151 voters and 13 candidates.
In 2018, Rajendra Pakeek (INC) won with 83,472 votes. Ratanlal Jaldhari (BJP) stood second with 68,292 votes. This time, RLTP candidate Wahid Chowhan came third with 28,906 votes. The total electors were 2,62,329 in 2018.
Overall, out of the total 199 seats, BJP is leading with 115 seats and Indian National Congress is second with 69 seats. BAP is currently at the third position in the total seat share. Along with Rajasthan, the Assembly elections were held in four other states including Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram. The results of these four states have also been announced.
