Udai Lal Anjana of Indian National Congress is hoping to win back the Chittorgarh Lok Sabha constituency of Rajasthan, after nearly 25 years later. He held the seat back in 1998 to 1999 until he was defeated by BJP’s Shrichand Kriplani. Anjana is a known name in Congress and Rajasthan politics.
Last year, Anjana grabbed headlines after Income Tax Department has raided his office while he was serving as the cabinet minister of Ashok Gehlot government. Apart from being a politician, Anjana is known businessman. The Income Tax raided two of his companies in last October. He was the minister for Nashi Spinners and Chetak infrastructure.
Anjana served several positions in Rajasthan under Congress. After he lost his seat in Chittorgarh constituency, he was appointed as vice president of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee from 2011 onwards. He was served as the member of Rajasthan legislative assembly from Nimbahera and Chhoti Sadri constituency from 2008 to 2013. The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Shrichand Kriplani defeated him once again. He also served as the minister of Co-operative Government of Rajasthan from December 2018 to December 3, 2023.
From Chittorgarh, Udai Lal Anjana will be contesting against BJP’s CP Joshi, who is currently serving as the state president of the party. Joshi is the two-term Member of Parliament from the Chittorgarh Lok Sabha constituency. Responding to getting ticket from his native place Chittorgarh once again, Anjana said that he sure that he will “win 200 percent from” the constituency.
