Rajasthan Election Results: Congress' Manish Yadav Wins Shahpura Assembly

Counting of votes in Rajasthan’s Shahpura has come to an end. Manish Yadav of Congress has won the Shahpura seat. Alok Beniwal, who is currently in second place in Shahpura. Manish Yadav polled 124072 votes compared to Alok Beniwal”s 59164.

Shahpura is a state Assembly constituency in the state of Rajasthan and is part of Jaipur district. Shahpura constituency covers all voters from Shahpura tehsil excluding Chhapra Khurd, Nathawala, Rampura and Saiwar of ILRC Shahpura and part of Chomu tehsil, which includes Amarpura, Khejroli, Nangal Koju, Niwana, Tigariya and Nangal Bharda of ILRC Khejroli.

There are a total of 2,07,776 voters, with 109324 male voters and 98452 female voters.

In the 2018 Rajasthan elections, Shahpura recorded a voter turnout of 82.77%. In 2018 Alok Beniwal, who contested the elections as an Independent candidate, won with 66538 votes. Manish Yadav became second with 62683 votes.

In 2013, Rao Rajendra Singh of BJP won the seat by a margin of 2,397 (1.71%). Rao Rajendra Singh secured 40.58% of the total votes polled. Alok Beniwal became second with 54,624 votes.

BJP”s Rao Rajendra Singh won this seat in the 2008 Assembly elections with a margin of 7,215 votes (6.48%), registering 40% of the total votes polled.

The BJP wrested power from the Congress in Rajasthan on December 3 by obtaining a clear majority and emerging as the single largest party past the halfway mark in the closely fought Assembly elections. The BJP won 115 of the 200 seats contested while the Congress was at a distant second with 69 seats.  Along with Rajasthan, the Assembly elections were held in four other states including Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Chhattisgarh. The results of these three states have also been announced today.
