A video emerged on social media from Maharashtra in which a Muslim was being attacked in front of his wife and child. In the wake of a disturbing incident in Kankavli, Maharashtra, where the man named Asif was subjected to a brutal assault by a Hindu mob and forced to chant “Jai Sri Ram”, Prakash Ambedkar, President of Vanchit Bahujan Aaghadi and former MP, has issued a scathing indictment of the Eknath Shinde-led BJP government.
Expressing grave concern over the erosion of ideals championed by social reformers such as Phule, Shahu, and Ambedkar in Maharashtra, Ambedkar accused the BJP-led government of fomenting communal hatred for electoral gains. He condemned the government”s role in importing a “virus of communal hatred” into the state.
Ambedkar further criticized the BJP”s tactics of instigating riots, fostering polarization, and exacerbating religious and caste divides to consolidate political power. He asserted that the BJP and RSS sought to perpetuate a climate of fear among Dalits, Adivasis, OBCs, and Muslims to maintain their grip on power.
“Do ideas of Phule-Shahu-Ambedkar matter anymore in Maharashtra? Eknath Shinde and BJP-led government has imported the virus of communal hatred for its electoral gains. BJP believe in using instigating riots, achieving polarisation and amplifying religious and caste divide and retain electoral gains.
“I have been saying this for almost a year now — the BJP-RSS goons wants Dalits, Adivasis, OBCs and Muslims to live under CONSTANT FEAR so that the BJP-RSS can stay in power,” Mr Ambedkar wrote on his X post.
