As the seat sharing discussions for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections are progressing in Maha Vikas Aghadi or MVA, of which the participants are INDIA bloc members, Vanchit Bahujan Aaghadi (VBA)’s Prakash Ambedkar shot a letter to Maharashtra Congress chief with his concerns.
Mr Ambedkar, a two-time member of parliament from Akola and a one-time Rajya Sabha member, was invited to the INDIA alliance by Patole, NCP chief in the state Jayant Patil and Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Sanjay Raut through a letter recently.
However, in a detailed letter, Mr Ambedkar demanded that as per a statement made by one of the spokespersons of the alliance, the signatories of the invitation to the INDIA alliance to be presidents of each constituents of the MVA, namely Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar and Mallikarjun Kharge, chiefs of Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP and Congress respectively.
“Send us an invitation with respect and signed by the presidents of the respective parties, namely Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar) and Congress, in the MVA. Or, if VBA is called for the meeting by one of the following — Shri Ramesh Chennithala, Shri Rahul Gandhi, Smt. Sonia Gandhi or Shri Mallikarjun Kharge — we will attend the meeting with no hesitation,” he wrote to Nana Patole.
Ramesh Chennithala is All India Congress Committee in charge of Maharashtra.
Mr Ambedkar is the grandson of Dr BR Ambedkar, the chief architect of Indian Constitution. He is also a famous lawyer and writer.
Maharashtra has a total of 48 Lok Sabha seats.
