Thanneeru Harish Rao of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has clinched the Siddipet Assembly Constituency in an astounding victory. In the Telangana Assembly elections, Harish Rao secured an impressive 105,514 votes, outshining his rival, Poojala Harikrishna of the Indian National Congress (INC), who only garnered 23,206 votes.
Telangana State Assembly elections 2023 took place on November 30 across 119 constituencies. Harish Rao garnered an astounding 131,295 votes in the 2018 elections, which kept him well ahead of Bhavani Marikanti of the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS), who received 12,596 votes to finish second. Harish Rao emerged victorious in the 2014 polls with 108,699 votes, resulting Taduri Srinivas Goud of the Congress second by 93,328 votes.
With 76.29 per cent of voters casting ballots, the Siddipet Assembly constituency saw a fierce contest between prominent opponents, namely Thanneeru Harish Rao of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Poojala Harikrishna from the Indian National Congress (INC) and Doodi Srikanth Reddy from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Besides, several independent candidates contested in the 2023 elections.
Harish Rao”s triumph over Bhavani Marikanti in 2018 underlines his strong political influence in the region. The Siddipet Assembly constituency is a part of the Medak Lok Sabha constituency, which was won by Telangana Rashtra Samithi”s (now BRS) Kotha Prabhakar Reddy by a wide margin of 316,427 votes in the 2019 general elections.
Siddipet, the district headquarters and a thriving municipality, is an urban hub and centre for education. The political landscape of Siddipet is changing under Harish Rao”s experienced leadership, solidifying his hold on the constituency as he triumphs once more.
