All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday proclaimed his aim to ensure the incumbent Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a complete denial from returning to power. He was addressing a voters’ gathering in Rajasthan’s Jaipur, ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in the state. He further said that the supporters of Congress and its leaders Rahul Gandhi and Ashok Gehlot also accepts PM Modi as the hero. Ashok Gehlot is the current Chief Minister of Rajasthan, representing the Indian National Congress, and serves the state from 2018.
AIMIM had, so far fielded three candidates for Rajasthan polls – Hawa Mahal constituency in Jaipur, Fatehpur in Sikar and Kaman in Bharatpur. Addressing the public, Mr Owaisi said that, if people of Rajasthan aims to defeat PM Modi, he will support them. He asked the voters that “if you have ever voted for the BJP… No… then how does they succeed?”
Voters of Rahul Gandhi and Ashok Gehlot also consider PM Modi as their hero, said the AIMIM chief adding his confusion on how the MP candidates of the BJP won in the 2019 elections. He accused the Congress party as they are unable to answer the reason behind the growth of BJP in the Indian soil surpassing the country’s first modern nationalist movement, the INC.
As Mr Owaisi mentioned earlier to the press, that, he will highlight the failures of Congress in Rajasthan and make people aware of the communalism propagated by BJP, as part of the election campaigns within the state. He called upon the people of Rajasthan to consider AIMIM as an opportunity to eradicate hatred, inequality, and discrimination, and added that both the Congress and BJP are making people fools. “If you want to get freedom from hatred, get shareholding and equality, end discrimination and strengthen brotherhood then vote for AIMIM… Hatred has increased after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister in 2014 and if people want to end hatred and communalism, then they need to understand their political strength”, said Owaisi in Jaipur.
The Rajasthan is scheduled themselves to submit at the polling booths on November 25, 2023, and counting will take place on December 3. According to the central Election Commission, they have received multiple requests from various political parties to postpone the election date from November 23 to 25 considering the former day has large scale of weddings and social engagements in the state, that could affect the voter turnout.
The date for issuing gazette notification is October 30 and the last date for filing nominations in Rajasthan is November 6. The nominations will be scrutinized on November 7 and the last date of withdrawal of candidature is November 9.
