The Election Commission of India announced today that the assembly election in Rajasthan will be held on November 23, and the counting of votes will be conducted on December 3. According to the Election Commission, the last date for filing nominations is November 6. The nominations will be scrutinized on November 7 and the last date of withdrawal of candidature is November 9.

The Congress and BJP are currently moving forward with their preparations for the upcoming assembly election in Rajasthan. The state is currently governed by Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government and the BJP is the main opposition party. Congress party already announced that they will start their campaign for the assembly election in Rajasthan from October 16. The slogan of the Congress for the campaign is “Kaam kiya dil se, Congress fir se”. Ahead of the elections, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also announced that the state will conduct a caste survey, similar to the process done by Bihar. It is to be noted that the Rajasthan assembly consist of 200 seats and the Congress had won 108 seats in the 2018 election, while the BJP secured 70 seats.

On the other hand, BJP is highlighting the unemployment and corruption issues in the state to capture the power from Congress. As part of election preparations in Rajasthan, BJP has already divided the state into 7 zones and given responsibilities to leaders from different state. Through this move, BJP aims to create a strong and strategic presence in Rajasthan.

At the same time, ahead of the elections, Rajasthan will witness the creation of three new districts in the state, which includes Malpura, Sujangarh, and Kuchman City. This will bring the total number of districts in Rajasthan to 53. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot stated that this decision was taken based on public demands pursued by local political leaders. A high-level committee has also been constituted by the Rajasthan government for this purpose.
