The case initially looked like a sudden death. It was only after Mahesh’s father Babulal Meena approached police with a complaint on August 16 that officers began a fresh probe. The family told police something was not right and urged them to look beyond the surface. The investigation got tougher because Celphos did not show up in the initial post-mortem.
