Rajasthan: Explosive-Laden Car With 150 kg Ammonium Nitrate Seized Ahead Of New Year's Eve
Jaipur, Rajasthan: A major security scare ahead of the New Year eve, police on Wednesday seized a Maruti Ciaz car with approximately 150 kg of illegal ammonium nitrate concealed in bags of urea fertilizer.
The explosives-laden car was found in Rajasthan’s Tonk. The police also discovered around 200 explosive cartridges in addition to six bundles of safety fuse wire (approximately 1,100 metres) in the vehicle.

The police conducted search after receiving information that about the explosives being supplied from Rajasthan’s Bundi to Tonk. The officials established a blockage, stopping and conducting raids at suspected vehicles, leading to the seizure of the explosives.
DSP Mrityunjay Mishra said that two people, identified as Surendra Mochi and Surendra Patwa, have been arrested in the case and are currently being interrogated.

The substance, Ammonium nitrate, a white crystalline chemical widely used as a fertiliser. Notably, it was the substance which was used along with other high-grade explosives in the blast near Red Fort in Delhi last month – in which 15 people died.
