Aroori Ramesh Left BRS To Get BJP Ticket For Warangal Lok Sabha Seat

BJP fielded Aroori Ramesh from Warangal to contest for the 18th Lok Sabha elections. Warangal Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 17 parliamentary constituencies of Telangana. Warangal will go on election on May 13, 2024 (phase 4). Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS now BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi)) has fielded Dr Sudheer Kumar to contest the election while Congress gave a ticket to Kadiyam Kavya.

With an MA and LLB degree, Aroori Ramesh started his political career with the Praja Rajyam Party in 2009 and contested as an MLA from the Ghanpur Legislative Assembly. He subsequently joined TRS and won the legislative assembly election in 2014 and 2018. On March 16, 2024, Ramesh left the BRS over the announcement of Kadiyam Kvaya, daughter of senior leader Kadiyam Srihari as its candidate from Warangal and joined the BJP the next day. However, Kadiyam Kavya and Kadiyam Srihari later joined the Congress party.

In 2019, the voter turnout in the election stood at 63.7 percent. TRS candidate Dayakar Pasunoori won the Warangal parliamentary seat with 612498 votes (58%) by defeating Congress” Dommati Sambaiah who secured 262200 votes. While BJP candidate Chintha Sambamurthy secured only 5 percent of the total votes.

Warangal Lok Sabha constituency comprises Ghanpur Station, Palakurthi, Parkal, Warangal West, Warangal East, Waradhanapet, and Bhupalpalle. All the assembly seats were won by the Congress party candidates in the last assembly elections. From 2014 onwards TRS candidates are winning the Lok Sabha seat from Warangal. TRS performance has been significantly prominent in the parliamentary elections as the party candidates have secured over 50% of the votes in the elections.

Warangal is an SC category parliament seat which comprises part of Warangal district. The literacy rate in the constituency is 58.79%. The SC, ST, and Muslim voters in the constituency are 19.6%, 7.5% and 6.6% respectively. The Rural and Urban voters ratio is 60.5% and 39.5% respectively.

The Lok Sabha election result 2024 will be announced on June 4, 2024.
