New Delhi, March 11: After a sitting MP of the BJP from Haryana joined the Congress yesterday, today another two time BJP MP from Rajasthan joined the Congress in presence of the party president Mallikarjun Kharge.
In a big boost to Congress ahead of the general elections in Rajasthan, two-time BJP MP Rahul Kaswan from Churu, Rajasthan joined the party. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge inducted Rahul Kaswan into the Congress here today.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh, in-charge for Rajasthan Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasara and Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully were also present on the occasion.
Rahul Kaswan”s family is counted among the prominent political families of Rajasthan. Kaswan has won the Churu LS seat for two consecutive terms. His father Ram Singh Kaswan was a four-time MP and mother Kamla Kaswan was also an MLA. His grandfather Deepchand Kaswan was also a minister.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Kharge welcomed Mr Kaswan into the party. He said, it will further strengthen the party in the state.
Mr Kaswan said that he has joined the Congress party on the basis of public sentiments of Churu Lok Sabha constituency. He thanked Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for inducting him into the Congress.
