American media star and businesswoman Paris Hilton on Monday reiterated her claim on the invention of ‘selfie’, with photographs featuring she and American singer Britney Spears. The photographs, taken in 2006 as she claims, were many times surfaced on social media by Ms Hilton in the past also, asserting the same. She swears that the practice of taking selfie pictures were invented for the first time in history by she and Ms Spears.
“17 years ago…” wrote Ms Hilton on her social media handles posting three ‘selfies’. Selfie means a self-portrait photograph taken by oneself, usually with a smartphone or a digital camera. Some people agree Ms Hilton’s claim that she and Britney Spears created the selfie by taking pictures with their front camera 17 years ago. However, others joke that Robert Cornelius took the world”s first selfie when he posed in his yard. Mr Cornelius was an American photographer and pioneer in the history of photography. His daguerreotype self-portrait taken in 1839 is generally accepted as the first known photographic portrait of a person taken in the United States.

According to Ms Hilton, she is celebrating the 17th anniversary of first selfie in the world. “Tag me in your most epic selfies to celebrate the most iconic invention”, she added posting the pictures on Sunday. In 2017 also she posted the same pictures to ‘celebrate’ the 11th anniversary and tweeted it again on 14th year.
Ms Hilton rose to fame as the star of the reality show The Simple Life in the early 2000s. The 42-year-old was born in the New York City and is famous as model, actress, and singer. She is a great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, the founder of Hilton Hotels.
