Actress Nayanthara faces legal trouble

Nayanthara’s new movie ‘Annapoorani’ landed the Jawan actress in legal trouble, with an FIR filed against the actress for hurting religious sentiments. The complaint filed by the Hindu Seva Parishad alleged that the movie included controversial remarks on the Lord Ram. Hindu Seva Parishad’s Atul Jeswani said that there are many scenes in the movie, released on Netflix on December 2023, that insult Lord Ram. Jeswani said the sentiments of the Hindu community have been hurt by making unfitting remarks on Lord Ram and he termed the movie as “anti-Hindu”.

He also alleged that the movie depicted Lord Ram as an animal killer and meat eater during his exile. However, the Madhya Pradesh police have registered the case under relevant sections against the actress Nayanthara, director Nilesh Krishna, and producers of the movie. The case was registered at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.

Ramesh Solanki, a former Shiv Sena leader had earlier filed an FIR against the movie saying that the movie offended the Hindu sentiment. He had then shared it to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) alleging that the movie also promoted ‘love jihad’

“At a time when the whole world is rejoicing in anticipation of the Pran Pratishtha of Bhagwan Shri Ram Mandir, this anti-Hindu film Annapoorani has been released on Netflix, produced by Zee Studios, Naad Studios and Trident Arts,” he wrote.

Noting the alleged insults, Ramesh Solanki said: “A daughter of Hindu Poojari, offers Namaz to cook Biryani, Love Jihad is promoted in this Film., Farhan (Actor) persuades the actress to eat meat saying that Bhagwan Shri Ram was also a meat eater.” The movie shows Nayanthara in the lead role.
