Actress Oviya Takes Action Against Leaked Video, Files Police Complaint.
Tamil and Malayalam film star Oviya has filed a police complaint after an intimate video allegedly featuring her surfaced online according to Hindustan Times on Wednesday. Oviya lodged a complaint at the Thrissur police station stating that the video was created and shared by Thariq, a former friend who became angry after she distanced herself due to his unacceptable behaviour. The police are yet to take action on Oviya’s complaint.
Thariq allegedly possesses morphed videos and images of other women according to Oviya ‘s complaint. Despite the controversy, Oviya showed resilience by posting a new photo on Instagram and responding confidently to fan comments. She mentioned that the video had been fakely created to tarnish her reputation and replied to comments who supported her in this unprecedented time.
On October 12, multiple X handles were seen to be posting and reposting alleged screenshots from her private video with creepy and obscene hashtags. When a person attempted to harass her in the comments section by asking her to share the extended version of her leaked private video, she said, “Next time bro.”

The leaked video apparently went viral on social media. As most people are seen to be sharing it on social media platforms and there are also people who altered the pictures and videos just to trouble her on social media. However, leaked video raised concerns over privacy issues and possibility of deepfake as well.
Oviya, originally known as Helen Nelson hails from Thrissur in Kerala. She has worked in Malayalam, Tamil, and Kannada films. Though she made her debut in Prithviraj-starrer Kangaroo, a 2007 Malayalam film, Oviya rose to fame with her debut film “Kalavani” and impressed audiences with roles in “Marina” and “Madha Yaanai Kootam.” After a brief lull, her participation in a reality TV show Big Boss revitalized her career and has garnered a huge fan base in Tamil and Malayalam.
