Directed by Amit Sharma, Ajay Devgn”s Maidaan is a biographical sports drama that pays homage to the golden era of Indian football (1952-1962) under the stewardship of Coach Syed Abdul Rahim, during which the team clinched victories in the Asian Games of 1951 and 1962.
Although filming was wrapped up by the end of 2019, it faced several delays. Stirring up anticipation once again, Ajay Devgn took to Instagram to unveil a fresh poster from the film, along with announcing the trailer release date.
In his caption, the actor teases the audience with the promise of “an extraordinary story of a man, a team, a nation, and the unwavering belief that left an indelible mark on the history of Football!”

Devgn also revealed that the trailer for Maidaan will release on March 7. The film also features Gajraj Rao, Priyamani, and Rudranil Ghosh in key roles.
In a candid conversation with The New Indian last year, producer Boney Kapoor shed light on the challenges encountered during the film”s production. The COVID-19 pandemic and unpredictable weather conditions posed significant hurdles, leading to delays in the project”s completion. Kapoor revealed that the originally planned six-month lease for a filming location had to be extended due to setbacks, resulting in additional costs. He also expressed his frustration with the insufficient insurance compensation received for the delays.
The film is slated to release to have an Eid release, clashing with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff”s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan in April.
