Ajith Kumar’s much-awaited action flick Good Bad Ugly made a thunderous debut at the box office on April 10, living up to the hype surrounding its release.

Directed by Adhik Ravichandran, the film recorded an impressive opening day collection of ₹28.5 crore, becoming the biggest Tamil opener of 2025 and one of the best in Ajith’s career. Mythri Movie Makers produced Good Bad Ugly (GBU) with a grand budget of Rs 200 crores.

Theatres across Tamil Nadu turned into celebration zones, with fans dancing, bursting fireworks, and treating the release like a festival.

The buzz around the movie reached a peak when Ajith Kumar’s wife, Shalini, was spotted attending a special screening with their children.

The film saw an average theatre occupancy of 79.47% on Day 1, with night shows witnessing the highest turnout at 88.81%, as per the reports.

Chennai led the footfall figures with an astounding 95% occupancy and also reported the highest number of screenings at 924 shows, followed by Bengaluru with 616 shows. However, the Telugu-dubbed version didn’t fare as strongly, recording just 16.98% occupancy.

Amidst reviews and reactions, the film is also making headlines, but not for a good reason. Director Adhik Ravichander’s action entertainer fell prey to online piracy amidst grand reception from the audience.

Just hours after hitting the big screen, unauthorised copies of the film began circulating on various illegal websites, sparking concerns over how this might affect its box office performance.
