Actor Ajith Kumar, who recently received the Padma Bhushan from President Droupadi Murmu, has been basking in the glory and admiration of his fans. While he thanked his family and friends for his success, his gratitude note for his wife, Shalini, and her sacrifices stood out.
Ajith is making headlines for his back-to-back achievements in racing and now for the Padma award. Recently, the actor credited his wife and actress Shalini, as his pillar of support for his success and achievements. In a recent interview, he talked about her decision to take a backseat in her career to support him. The Good Bad Ugly actor said, “Shalini, she made so many sacrifices. She’s been my pillar of support. I am extremely grateful to the universe.”

Explaining how she had backed the actor for years, Ajith stated that he had made wrong decisions in life but still chose to stand by him. “As you all know, she was very popular and loved by her fans. And for her to take a backseat, there were times when my decisions were wrong. But she still stood by me, not discouraging me.”
Acknowledging his wife’s contribution to his success, Ajith added that Shalini deserves a lot of credit for everything that he has achieved in life, since she stood by his side when times were tough.
For the unversed, Shalini, who began her acting career as a child artist, was a popular lead actress during the 90s and early 2000s. But she retired from her acting career after marrying Ajith in the year 2000.

She is well-known for starring in films like Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari and Ente Mamattikkuttiyammakku as a child and Alai Payuthey and Kannukkul Nilavu as a lead. She was last seen in the 2001 blockbuster film Piriyadha Varam Vendum.
Ajith Kumar received his Padma Bhushan award from President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on Monday for his contribution to Indian cinema. On receiving the honour, Ajith expressed how it felt surreal and the feeling was yet to sink in. He also added that it felt like he was living a dream and someone would wake him up.
