Actor Mammootty Receives Padma Bhushan Award From President
New Delhi: Malayalam legend Mammootty received Padma Bhushan award from the President of India on Tuesday, June 23. The event held Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, among others.
The actor was among the first recipients of the Padma Awards. Mammootty had reached Delhi earlier this day accompanied by his wife Sulfath, son and actor Dulquer Salmaan, and daughter Surumi to attend the ceremony. The India’s third higher civilian award recognises and honours his decades-long contributions to the Indian cinema.

Mammootty acted in more than 400 films across multiple languages during a career spanning over five decades. He is also known for supporting various social causes and charitable initiatives, apart from his film career.
PI Muhammad Kutty known as Mammootty in 1951, the 75-year-old veteran Malayalam superstar started film journey in the 1971 Malayalam film Anubhavangal Paalichakal. A law graduate, Mammootty had earlier practised as an advocate before pursuing acting full-time.
The actor showcased skills and versatility throughout his career across genres, from intense dramas to socially relevant narratives, earning both critical acclaim and a devoted fan following. He is also a three-time National Film Award winner for Best Actor and other than receiving several Kerala State Film Awards. Mammootty received Padma Shri in 1998.
