Asif Ali & Aparna Balamurali in Jeethu Joseph’s 'Mirage': Release Date, Cast, Trailer, & More
Malayalam cinema is set to welcome another gripping thriller this week as acclaimed filmmaker Jeethu Joseph returns with his latest film, Mirage, which releases in theatres across Kerala and beyond on 19 September 2025.
Known for crafting some of the most celebrated thrillers in Indian cinema, including the Drishyam franchise, Jeethu now brings a fresh, layered crime drama led by Asif Ali and Aparna Balamurali in the central roles.
The film has been generating buzz since its announcement earlier this year. Produced by Naad Studios and E4 Experiments in association with Seven 1 Seven Productions and Bedtime Stories, Mirage is being positioned as one of the most anticipated thrillers of 2025.
Its screenplay, co-written by Jeethu Joseph and Srinivas Abrol, is based on a story by Aparna R. Tarakad, promising a tense and unpredictable narrative.

Asif Ali plays Dr Arun Vasudevan, while National Award-winning actress Aparna Balamurali appears as Neena Thomas. The film also features a strong supporting cast, including Arjun Syam Gopan, Hakim Shahjahan, Deepak Parambol (as ACP Kuruvila IPS), Hannah Reji Koshy, and veteran actor Sampath Raj.
Jeethu Joseph has always been known for blending personal emotions with crime narratives, and early glimpses suggest that Mirage may continue this tradition, striking a balance between suspense and human drama.
The makers began building anticipation months ahead of release. The first look poster, unveiled on 23 June 2025, created intrigue with its stark design.

Finally, the trailer, released just days before the premiere, has amplified curiosity by hinting at a web of secrets and deception.
The technical team at Mirage is comprised of trusted collaborators. Satheesh Kurup handles cinematography, while Vinayakh takes charge of editing. Prasanth Madhav leads production design, ensuring visual depth for Jeethu’s layered storytelling.
Vishnu Shyam composes the soundtrack, with Vinayak Sasikumar penning the lyrics. The trailer music, featuring vocals by Elisha Abraham and violins by Shimon Jasmine Rasheed, has already been praised for setting the perfect mood.
