Jeethu Joseph’s 'Mirage' Starring Asif Ali & Aparna Balamurali Hits Theatres Today

Malayalam cinema welcomes a gripping new crime thriller as Mirage releases in theatres today, September 19, 2025. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jeethu Joseph.

Jeethu, best known for redefining the thriller genre with Drishyam, has co-written the screenplay with Srinivasan Abrol, from a story conceived by Aparna R. Tarakad. Produced by Naad Sstudios and E4 Experiments in association with Seven 1 Seven Productions and Bedtime Stories, Mirage has been one of the most-awaited films of the season.

The film stars Asif Ali in the lead role as Dr Arun Vasudevan, with Aparna Balamurali playing Neena Thomas. Their pairing is already generating buzz, with both actors known for their ability to deliver layered, emotionally resonant performances.

The supporting cast includes Arjun Syam Gopan as Ananthu, Hakim Shahjahan as Akbar, Deepak Parambol as ACP Kuruvila IPS, Hannah Reji Koshy, and Sampath Raj, each adding to the film’s strong ensemble presence.

Mirage tells the story of Dr Arun Vasudevan, whose seemingly ordinary life is disrupted by a chain of events that draw him into a complex web of crime, deceit, and hidden truths. With Jeethu Joseph’s signature storytelling style, the film is expected to deliver a mix of suspenseful twists and deeply human conflicts, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats.

The project was officially announced on January 6, 2025, and formally launched with a pooja ceremony in Kozhikode on January 20, with principal photography beginning the next day.

The first look poster, unveiled on June 23, 2025, quickly drew attention for its striking visual design, followed by the second look on August 1, 2025, which heightened anticipation.

The teaser, released on August 17, offered a glimpse into the dark and thrilling world of Mirage, setting social media abuzz with speculation and excitement.

The technical crew has played a crucial role in shaping the film’s atmosphere. Vishnu Shyam has composed the soundtrack, expected to heighten the intensity and emotional stakes of the narrative.

Backed by Naad Sstudios and E4 Experiments, with the creative support of Seven 1 Seven Productions and Bedtime Stories, the film carries strong production values that aim to match its ambitious storytelling.
