‘Bandar’ Set For Release Tomorrow: Indrajith Sukumaran Plays Key Role In Anurag Kashyap’s Crime Thriller
Acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s much-awaited crime thriller Bandar is all set to hit theatres on June 5, 2026. The film, which generated significant attention following its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last year, stars Bobby Deol in the lead role and features a strong ensemble cast that includes Malayalam actor Indrajith Sukumaran.
Produced by Nikhil Dwivedi under the banner Saffron Magicworks, Bandar, released internationally as Monkey In A Cage, is inspired by real-life events and has been written by Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee.
Alongside Bobby Deol and Indrajith Sukumaran, the film also stars Sanya Malhotra, Sapna Pabbi, Saba Azad, Raj B. Shetty and Jitendra Joshi in important roles.

The film revolves around Sameer Mehra, a fading television star whose life takes a shocking turn after he is accused of rape by his former girlfriend. What follows is a tense and suspense-filled battle involving personal relationships, public scrutiny and a legal system that appears determined to keep him behind bars.
Known for his hard-hitting storytelling, Anurag Kashyap is expected to deliver another intense and thought-provoking drama with Bandar.
For audiences in Kerala, one of the major highlights of the film is the presence of Indrajith Sukumaran. Over the years, Indrajith has built a reputation as one of Malayalam cinema’s most versatile actors.
Whether it was the politically charged intensity of Left Right Left, Aaha, the emotional depth of his dramatic performances, or his effortless comic timing in films like Classmates and Amar Akbar Anthony, the actor has consistently demonstrated remarkable range.
The actor was recently seen in films such as L2: Empuraan, where he played Govardhan, and Mr & Mrs Bachelor, in which he portrayed Siddharth Narayanan alias Siddhu.
Many film lovers have often argued that Indrajith remains one of the industry’s most underutilised talents despite delivering memorable performances across genres.
His role in Bandar offers another opportunity to showcase his acting skills on a larger national platform and reach audiences beyond Malayalam cinema.
The film had its world premiere in the Special Presentations section of the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025, where it attracted attention for both its subject matter and performances.
