
Cause Of Death Inconclusive After Shefali Jariwala’s Autopsy, Police Await Lab Results
A day after actress and television personality Shefali Jariwala was found dead at her residence in Mumbai’s Andheri West, police have confirmed that her post-mortem has been completed, but the cause of death remains undetermined. Doctors at Cooper Hospital, who conducted the autopsy, have reserved their opinion pending results from toxicology and histopathology tests, as per reports.
The 42-year-old performer, who shot to fame in the early 2000s with her iconic appearance in the music video “Kaanta Laga,” was reportedly feeling unwell late on Friday night.
Around 11:15 pm, her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, rushed her to Bellevue Multispecialty Hospital in Andheri, where she was declared dead on arrival. Her body was subsequently transferred to R.N. Cooper Hospital in Juhu for the autopsy.

According to police officials, Shefali had been on medication for a neurological condition and had also taken her regular pills and an anti-ageing injection earlier that day.
She had reportedly been fasting due to a religious puja at home. Preliminary assessments suggest a possible cardiac arrest, though investigators are awaiting lab reports to confirm the medical cause of death.
Blood and viscera samples have been preserved and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Kalina for detailed analysis. In the meantime, police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR), a standard procedure in such cases where there is no immediate evidence of foul play.
Officers from the Amboli police station visited the couple’s residence at the Golden Rays-Y building in Lokhandwala, where a forensic inspection was carried out.

Statements have been recorded from family members, domestic staff, and neighbours. A senior investigating officer told Hindustan Times, “At this stage, there are no signs of foul play. However, the investigation will remain open until all scientific reports are received.”
Jariwala was a well-known face in Indian pop culture, having later appeared on reality shows such as Bigg Boss 13 and Nach Baliye 5 and 7. Her untimely death has come as a shock to fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry.
Her mortal remains were taken from her Andheri residence on Saturday morning for the final rites, which were performed at the Oshiwara crematorium in the presence of close family and friends.
