Actress Nayanthara‘s Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale, is making waves on the internet since its release. Followed by actor Dhanush’s issue of legal notice, rumours made rounds on social media claiming that the Chandramukhi makers have demanded Rs 5 crores for using clips from the film without authorisation.
But did the makers of the acclaimed 2005-released film actually demand the compensation?

No. Amid speculations, a No Objection Certificate (NOC) granted to the actress has surfaced online. The NOC, issued by Sivaji Productions to Nayanthara’s production company, Rowdy Pictures, confirms no financial demands were made.
Clarifying the same, Tamil film industry tracker Manobala Vijayabalan shared that the claim was “untrue” since Nayanthara had already received the NOC from Sivaji Productions. He also shared a copy of the NOC document along the post.
The document shared by the industry tracker reads, “This is to certify that Sivaji Productions has no objection to the use of the following video footage in the Netflix documentary ‘Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale,'” read the No Objection Letter, dated November 2, 2024.

Notably, the list, which the actress issued to express her gratitude, also includes the Chandramukhi producer Ramkumar Ganesan, who had produced the film under his banner, Sivaji Productions.
The documentary venture of the Jawan actress faced legal issues with actor Dhanush over the usage of footage from their 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. Despite Nayanthara seeking permission to use visuals from the movie, Dhanush denied her request, sending a legal notice demanding Rs 10 crore in damages.

Dhanush later filed a civil suit against Nayanthara, her husband Vignesh Shivan, and Netflix over the unauthorised footage in the documentary.
