The comedy-drama “Crew” is a good watch if you are ready to watch a movie that gives you occasional entertainment. The movie, helmed by Rajesh A Krishan and featuring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon in lead roles, kicks off with much energy, but loses its stream when the movie expands to its subplots.
The movie guarantees the maximum performances from the leading ladies, especially Tabu in her vivacious avatar for the character. The veteran actor, who was once tagged as the mainstay of the arthouse movies, proves again as an all-weather actress. She is quirky, effervescent and too much funny as Geeta Sethi, who is leading the crew of struggling Kohinoor Airlines. Among the major characters in the movie, Geeta Sethi has more intensity and Tabu, as usual, handles the show with much ease – may be because that is her core area as an actress.
Crew’s Kareena Kapoor Khan as Jasmine Kohli, a senior flight attendant who lives full of her life, is already been to characters like that before. That is her area of expertise. Kareena lights up the screen as she appears each time with her tricks, tactics and quirkiness.
Kriti’s Divya Rana is exact opposite of what Kareena does in the movie. She is responsible, wants to support the family in repaying the loan she had taken for her studies and keeps alive her dream of becoming a pilot one day although she is working as a flight attendant these days. And the youngest among the lead actors, both in the movie and in industry, Kriti was able to deliver one of the best performances, that too with sharing screen space with two legends.
One weak link in the whole movie is its screenplay in the second half. Predictability of the thread may kill the whole movie’s entertainment value, but, the enthusiastic performances of the lead actors, Kapil Sharma and Diljit Dosanjh who comes in special-extended roles will keep the audience to the movie. Story loses its cling on value and the viewer is left unattended in many scenes in the second half.
Overall, Crew is a good watch to experience the stunning screen presence of its leading ladies.
