Actress Mrunal Thakur hailed Rashmika Mandanna for speaking out against a deepfake video that had recently gone viral on social media. Several Bollywood celebrities, including Amitabh Bachchan, earlier conveyed their support for Rashmika. Mrunal Thakur took to her Instagram stories to support Rashmika Mandanna in the deepfake issue.
Mrunal Thakur severely criticized the people who are engaged in creating deepfake videos. “Shame on people who resort to such things, it shows that there”s no conscience left at all in such people. Thank you Rashmika Mandanna for speaking up, and for addressing this issue that so far we have seen glimpses of but a lot of us chose to remain silent,” wrote Mrunal Thakur in her Instagram story. The actress further said that morphed, edited videos of female actors are floating around on the internet every day. “Where are we heading as a community, and as a society? We may be actresses in the “limelight” but at the end of the day, each one of us is human. Why aren”t we talking about it? Don”t remain silent, now is not the time,” Mrunal Thakur added.
I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online.

Rashmika Mandanna also took to social media on November 6 to express concern over her deepfake video. “Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused,” wrote the actress on her X handle. The video, which went viral, shows a woman entering an elevator, and her face has been morphed into that of Rashmika’s. However, the original woman in the video was Zara Patel, a British Indian. In the real video, Zara Patel’s face is clearly visible in the initial seconds. However, it changes into the face of Rashmika Mandanna quickly.
