Rashmika Mandanna’s Deepfake Video: Amitabh Bachchan Calls For Legal Action

In today”s world of artificial intelligence (AI), deepfake technology is the most concerning issue. Cybercriminals can use this technology to create false or misleading images and videos, which may harm an individual’s reputation. Popular actress Rashmika Mandanna is the latest victim of deepfake technology.

Actress Rashmika Mandanna“s deepfake video recently went viral on social media platforms. The video shows a woman entering an elevator, and her face has been morphed into that of Rashmika”s. A Twitter user named Abhishek Kumar, also a journalist, revealed that the original woman in the video was Zara Patel, a British Indian. Abhishek Kumar also shared the original and fake video on his X account and highlighted the need for new legal and regulatory measures to combat the spread of fake content on the internet. Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan also shared this video on his social media timeline and called for legal action. “Strong case for legal,” wrote Amitabh Bachchan on his x handle.

“There is an urgent need for a legal and regulatory framework to deal with deepfake in India. You might have seen this viral video of actress Rashmika Mandanna on Instagram. But wait, this is a deepfake video of Zara Patel,” Abhishek Kumar wrote on his X handle while sharing the videos. In the real video, Zara Patel”s face is clearly visible in the initial seconds. However, it changes into the face of Rashmika Mandanna quickly. Deepfake technology is a method for manipulating videos, images, and audio using machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. It is to be noted that deepfake can portray a person as indulging in antisocial behaviors and saying things that they never did.
