Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided Businessman Raj Kundra’s house and offices were raided today. The raid was said to be a part of a money laundering probe related to the production and distribution of pornographic content through mobile apps. The agency is also searching the premises of Kundra’s associates, as per media report.
The inquiry roots from a case initiated by the Mumbai police against Kundra in 2021 in connection with the alleged porn production.

For the unversed, Raj Kundra, husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, was previously arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch in July 2021 under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. He later secured bail from a city court. According to Mumbai Police officials, Kundra was the primary conspirator in the case. He was arrested in connection with the production and distribution of pornographic content via the “Hotshots” app.
The network was uncovered after Mumbai police busted a pornography racket by the Mumbai Police in February 2021, which led to the arrest of five individuals. The investigations resulted in four additional arrests over time. However, the case faced setbacks due to leadership changes within the Mumbai Police.
Earlier this year, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch resumed its probe and uncovered the involvement of HotShots, an app owned by Raj Kundra’s company. On search operations that was conducted subsequently, officials said adult content was found on servers seized.

During the bail plea hearing, Kundra’s counsel argued that neither he nor his IT head, Ryan Thorpe, who was also arrested, was responsible for deciding what content was uploaded to the platform. At the same time, the Mumbai Police maintained that they have enough evidence against Kundra.
