“Even The Silent Shots Spoke Volumes”: Actor Suriya On Mammootty-Jyotika Starrer Kaathal
Amidst the exceptional responses from the audiences and critics, Tamil super star Suriya on Tuesday took to his social media and praised the movie Kaathal: The Core, “When Beautiful minds come together we get movies”. Kaathal: The Core, the Malayalam movie featuring Megastar Mammootty and prominent Tamil actress Jyotika, hit the theatre screens on November 23. The Jeo Baby directorial earned positive response all over for dealing a highly progressive content in a thoroughly convincible manner.
Suriya, actor and husband of Jyotika, applauded the film as “progressive”. He complimented the crew, “hats off to this beautiful team!”, and acknowledged actor Mammootty’s “love for good cinema”. To the director Jeo Baby, he said “even the silent shots spoke volumes”, and complemented the writers Adarsh Sukumaran and Paulson Skaria for brilliantly crafting the world of queer people.
Last but no the least, Suriya praised wife Jyotika, who played the female protagonist character in the movie, “And my Omana for winning all hearts showing what love can be!!!” “Superlative”, Suriya added.

Kaathal was produced by the Mammootty Kampany and distributed by the Wayfarer films. The film was officially announced in October 2022 and the principal photography commenced on the same month. The music was composed by Mathews Pulickan while Francies Louis handled the editing. The movie primarily focus on the plot, how the Protagonist Mathew Devassy (played by Mammootty) accepts his gender identity as a homosexual after encountering a divorce case filed by his wife Omana (played by Jyotika).
The movie was critically praised as groundbreaking and broke the age-old narratives of executing unquestionable and highly appealing themes. Divorce and Homosexuality forms the crux of the movie and is all about “coming out”.
Recently pan Indian actress Samantha also posted a story on Instagram showering the movie and the actors with compliments. She wrote on her Instagram story, sharing the poster of the film, “Movie of the year. Do yourself a favour and watch this beautiful yet powerful gem of a film. Mammootty sir, you are my hero. I will not be able to get over this performance for a long time. Jyothika, love you,”. She also praised director Jeo Baby for his legendary directorial.
