“Heart Breaking…”: Prakash Raj’s Reaction To Ilaiyaraaja’s Post On Daughter’s Death

Renowned music composer Ilaiyaraaja is mourning the loss of his daughter, Bhavatharini, who passed away on January 25 at the age of 47 after battling a chronic illness. Bhavatharini had been undergoing treatment in Sri Lanka, having traveled there from India. Despite five months of Ayurvedic therapy, her health did not improve, and she succumbed to her illness at 5:20 PM.

Ilaiyaraaja, in a moving and emotional post on X (formerly Twitter), expressed his grief with only two words, “Anbu Makale… (Dear Daughter),” alongside an image featuring a young Bhavatharini with her father.


Actor Prakash Raj responded to Ilaiyaraaja”s post, offering condolences and acknowledging the profound pain of losing a loved one. He commented, “Heart breaking…. I know this pain… nothing can heal it. May her soul rest in peace.. may you have the strength to bear it Sir.”

Actor-politician Kamal Haasan wrote: “I don”t know what to do…my dear brother Ilayaraja. Bhavatharini”s demise is something that cannot be tolerated. My heartfelt condolences to the family of Bhavadharini.”

Earlier, actor Simbu had also expressed his grief over her death.

“The voice that forever lives in the heart of people for its innocence and love! You were a pure soul! Gone too soon! I pray to God to give strength to the family of Illayaraja sir and my brother @thisisysr at this moment! Rest in peace Bhavatharini (sic),” Simbu wrote on X.

Bhavatharini, National Awards winning playback singer and composer, made her debut as a singer for Raasaiya.

Composers Yuvan Shankar Raja and Karthik Raja are her siblings, and she had sang mostly under the direction of her father and brothers.

She had done music direction for movies like Mitr, My Friend, Avunaa, Phir Milenge and Maayanadhi.
