Tamil Nadu Government To Honour Ilaiyaraaja For His Triumphant Musical Journey (Image-X/mkstalin)
Legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja has achieved a significant milestone in his career by composing and premiering his first-ever symphony in London. The maestro, known for his dedication and immense contribution to music, described the moment as the most defining and memorable one of his life. Here is what the government of Tamil Nadu has planned to honour the musician for his achievement.
The announcement of the launch of Ilaiyaraaja’s symphony received great appreciation from the leading stars of Tamil Nadu. Upon his return, MK Stalin, the Chief Minister of the state, announced that the government will officially celebrate this extraordinary milestone achievement of the legend.

The government-hosted celebration will honour the vast influential works and the half-century mark of Ilaiyaraaja, which have left an indelible mark in the history of Indian music.
Ilaiyaraaja presented his first-ever western classical symphony, titled Valiant, at London’s Eventin Apollo Theatre on March 9. He recorded Valiant alongside the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
He also presented an orchestral iteration of some of the most popular compositions from his career at the London Theatre. This western symphony adds to the musical maestro’s growing body of work, which also includes albums such as How To Name It and Nothing But Wind.

Expressing his appreciation, MK Stalin took to his official X handle and said, “The musician Ilaiyaraaja, who has returned from a record-breaking trip to London Symphony, met me in person to congratulate me on my trip and thank me. On behalf of the government, we have decided to celebrate his half-century journey in film music! This festival will be celebrated with the participation of fans living in the Raja’s music kingdom!”
